Weird Ignition Problem
alright, i have a '98 3.8....when i got home from class today, my engine wouldn't turn off! i took the key out of the ignition but it was still running. oddly enough, i was able to drive it to the shop without the key cranked all the way. it was weird because when i left school i popped my trunk to throw my t-tops in there and all the electronics turned on by themselves, the keys were still in my pocket! the guys at the shop said it wasn't the ignition switch after they checked it out and now they need to do a diagnostics on it which is gonna cost me some dough. i could really use some input, has anyone else had this problem before?
Do you have an after market alarm system, or a remote starter? They could have gone haywire causing your problem. Otherwise, if the switch is good, there has to be a short somewhere feding power to the ignition.
yea, you're right. the previous owner had an aftermarket alarm system in there which was already messed up when i got it and that's what's causing the problem...thanks for the help.
