Transmission Question on a 94 Camaro???
Someone is selling a 1994 Camaro for $1400, pretty nice looking car. The camaro has an automatic transmission. I have only talked to the current owner over the phone, I have not test driven the camaro yet. The current owner tells me the transmission is okay, but when he is coming to a stop the tranny pops out of gear. He told me that the car has been parked for a year and that all it really needs is a flush and new fluid. What do you guys think? Do you think it's gonna take more than a flush?
It might just need a flush, but you can't really tell...hell, for $1400, it's worth it if the car looks nice,I paid $3000 for mine and the tranny went out about 2 months after I got it (a total rebuild on an auto around hereis $1500)...if it only pops out when going to a stop, it could be the clutch slipping, which isn't terribly expensive to replace. Take it for a drive and decide for yourself though...$1400 is a pretty good deal!
Sorry to but in, what model box does the 94 Camaro have?
I have been offered a 94 v6 very cheap because it has no front end. I have a 85 Camaro with a duff auto box and was hoping I could take the one from the 94.
Cheers
Chris

Never heard of an automatic popping out of gear. The gears are always in mesh and don't change position.

I've seen it on dodge neons
The guy may be attempting to describe a tranny slip without actually saying it. But at any rate I agree 1400 bucks isnt much even if the tranny was completely gone. Just dont buy the car expecting nothing to go wrong , i mean its a 1400 dollar car, its not gonna be perfect.
