Default Thermostat installation

I have a 3.4v6 in my camaro, and I want it to run a little cooler. When I went to install the thermostat, the haynes manual said i could just drain some coolant and the only other thing i would need to do is take off the intake duct. When I was looking at the intake duct is nowhere near the thermostat, to get a good open space above the thermostat requires taking off the manifold and throttle body. Has anybody done this and how did you do it?

I'm not the greatest mechanic so I didnt want to get in over my head and just left it, but I really want to put my thermo in HELP!!!

post up a couple pics of the thermo housing, is the haynes manual for your exact 3.4L motor? because those instructions sound like the ones to change out the LT1 V8 thermo.

you shouldnt have to remove all that stuff to get to the thermo, so a few pictures and im sure i can help you.

The bolts should come out then u should be able to lift it up enough just to get the cover over the thermostat and then slide it out.
