Spark plug wires

Ok so I have a couple ticks in my engine. One is solved..(new headers loose). The other problem is that my plug wires are arcing to the block. The wires are brand new along with distributer. Do you think I might have broke the wires when I installed them or is there another reason why the wires would be arcing?

Are the wires burned from touching the exhaust? If so you need to reroute and replace.
If you cannot see any damage, I would return them and get my money back.
What brand are they? I have used Taylor wires for years and had zero failures.

[&:] spark goes wherever is easiest and it really doesnt want to go into a pressurized cylinder. the plug wires could be bad yes even new especially depending on quality. the plug could be bad and have a crack and or carbon track in the insulator or the gap is too large on the electrode. either way you have a bad plug or wire and its gonna need replacing. once a carbon track has been established in a part its junk and can only be replaced kurt

They are red accel performance wires. There is like fiberglass cloth around the wires where they go near the headers. So there is nothing else that could cause this to happen? I don't want to replace all the wires and have it be something else.

try a set of heatshields for the boots.

Thanks guys... I had heatshields for the boots but they weren't completely covering the boots. I still have a faint tick in my engine but if i give it a little gas about maybe 200rpm higher than idle(800rpm) it goes away so I believe that there is nothing wrong with the engine... Maybe just somthing to do with my disconnected and open emissions tubing.
