Solid car, minor defect
I'm looking at buying an '88 Camaro for $800 with a running 305 standard but there is one problem with the car. It's been sitting outside an auto repair shop in New England for a number of years but is surprisingly in very good shape. The exterior is flawless except a few dings and everything else seems solid except one area under the hood. It's a crossmember that runs across the top of the radiator that is rotted on both ends. Rust has eaten through a good portion of this crossmember. I was wondering if this was an easy repair? Does it involve some chopping and welding? Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am not sure on that car but look over at where the cross memeber connects to the fenders. If there are bolts there, then you should be able to unbolt the piece and replace, if not, then it is probably wielded. I would think since it runs across top of rad, it would be removed with common hand tools. I had to replace that part on my Jeep because of a minor accident and it bolted in but I know you are not talking about a jeep!
