Cool, I will play around just to see what happens. But I don't want to re-jet the carb until after I get a Cam. I dont really understand carbs.

I knew the car would be rich when I put that carb on it. I was more concerned about the smoke. But after what you have said I think the smoke is just because the car is really really rich. I will lean out the mixture and adjust the accelerator pump to see if I can getting it running less rich and still have a good launch.

Thanks Guys.

It smells like fuel, and the plugs are turning black.
Not to mention the carb is to big. It is for after I get my cam.
Holy 750 double pump.

What will the exhaust do?
"Black smoke, Blue Smoke, soot build up"

What will happen when the car is idling?
"smoke, loadup, try to choke"

I have duals that dump straight down, and the driveway has turned black from the soot. I cant tell if the car is smoking a little from burning oil. Or if it is just unburnt fuel. Doesnt smell like oil, smells like fuel and it burns your eyes. I cant see the smoke when I get on it, only when sitting at an idle. Doesn't smoke if I rev it up.

Wondering if maybe my valve guides dried out while the engine was sitting.

Probable just rich, but felt I should ask incase it was a sign of something else.
Dont start jetting for idle richness those are two different circuts. What is your cam duration at .050 what is your base timing set at? how many cubic inches is the motor?

No idea, no idea and 350.

I got my heads last week. A set of trick flow, twisted wedge II. I will order a cam next month (working on the truck this month). When I replace the cam I will replace the harmonic balancer so I can tell where the timing is, current one is messed up.

I moved the accelerator pump and was able to lean the car out. It is running much better. Still to rich, but nothing like it was.
