I've got a problem with my engine stumbling a bit when I toe the throttle in from low rpms. It's a built 327 with 10.5 compression, 3/4 cam, double hump heads, and a Weiand med rise intake with a 650 Edelbrock on top. Its running through an M21 with 3.08s out back. Oh and I'm running a 27 inch tall tire on the back. The problem is if I'm cruising at about 1500 and toe the gas in hard it stumbles bad then takes off. It also seems to exagerate this when it is cold and rainy. Any suggestions? I try to run 95+ octane and seem to have a pretty good tune. It does great at high rpms and just flys when the distributor kicks the timing up.

 

You probably have to make some adjustments to the accelerator pump stroke on your carburator. Sounds like you are not getting enough fuel when you crack the throttle. I am not too familiar with the Edelbtrock carb, but there are probably adjustments available or you may have to do some linkage bending.

 

I thought that or possibly flooding because I have it richened up good to counter lower octane with high compression

 

Well, if you have an ajustable accelerator pump, you can try it both ways & see what happen. What is your initial spark advance? How did you go about richening the misture? Main jets, power jets, idle mix?? You can try a set of colder plugs in order to avoid detonation, rather than going to an over rich mixture.
