[&:] id have to do more research to be sure but if there like most of GM other cooling fan setups they dont come on until close to 220 deg. there should indeed be a relay in the circuit. it would be helpful for you to get a schematic for that circuit and check the grounds and completeness of the circuit. relays do go bad so thats another thing to check kurt

well all the grounds seem to be fine.the fuse is fine and so is the sensors.i didnt check the relay yet,but that thing will not kick on when it just gets over 200.so right i have 2 wires in the car that i hook together to keep it cool till i get this figured out.

[:@] you need to check and then trip the relay this will verify that everything in the circuit with the exception of the sensor is functioning correctly. remember its probably 220 deg ( i know it seems sadisticly cruel) before the fans will come on in a functioning circuit kurt

yes i have been reading that about the temp, but i am worried when the overflow bottle is boiling when i shut off the car.i have had 2 camaros before this one and they had clutch fans.i am just trying to decide if i should just take out the fans and use a clutch fan and lose some hp but it dont like the temp getting that high.i will try the relay trick but need to figure out what one to test since there is 3 relays on the drivers side.

[&:] stick with the electric way better the over flow bottle shouldnt boil at shutdown unless you have other problems (rad cap?) failed head gasket may also be a culprit. i know aftermarket companies like slp offer manual fan over rides for 93 and up but not sure whats available for earlier years. the cover for the relays may provide a sticker or cast in info as to which relay is for the fans. if you really want a simple manual control id wire into the relay to activate the fans

i know what ur saying about the boiling.if i hard wire the fans to run at all times,i can keep the temp down and no boiling in the bottle.i would just like to figure this thing out but i might just as well find a source for power when i turn on the key so they run all the time.i think i am going out to mess with it to see if i can figure it out.

just like many other scenarios you may well be fixing a symptom and not the problem. if your insistent on simply running the fans find a keyed on power source and run a relay(or through the factory one) and run them that way
