Default Question about my 4.3

This morning my window wipers stopped working on my Blazer. It's a 1990 S10 4.3 4x4. I checked the fuse and nothing was wrong with it, but I put a new one anyway and it still wouldn't work. I thought when I had cleared off some snow and tried to use them this morning, it just got overloaded or was stuck by ice because they moved a tiny bit, but then stopped. But even clearing everything off, they still wouldn't work. When I changed the fuse and turned them on, you could hear it try to work, like the motor trying to turn, but it wouldn't do anything. Could it be the motor? It's not the fuse since I checked/replaced it with a new one. I'm not sure what else is there that could have gone wrong, it's such a basic truck. They just suddenly stopped working.

Kinda sounds like the wipers were glued down by the ice and the linkage arm may have come off the motor. Grab the wipers and try to sweep them up and across the windshield. If you can do that, the arm beneath the cowl vent got disconnected from the motor, or possibly the nut or bolt on the motor came loose allowing the short rotating arm to slip (wiper linkage arm connects to it). You should also be able to hear the wiper motor run if it's still good (will be easier to hear with the heater fan and engine off). I'm not sure about how your linkage attaches, some pop on with a force fit nylon nub, others have a clip. Now...if you can hear the motor run, and if you can't budge the wipers by hand, then there's a pretty good chance you stripped out a nylon gear inside the motor assembly (the wiper motor isn't direct drive, it's a gear reduction type). I prolly don't have to tell you this now anymore, but after a snow or ice storm, it's best to break the wiper blades free from the windshield by hand before turning them on.

So my wipers decided to start working today. Not exactly sure what's going on now.

I'm not sure. Case is gonna look at it today. They were acting weird the other week. I had to go to work during a freezing rain storm and they kept freezing and stopping. Maybe I'm just wearing it out with all the demands I have from that truck during the bad weather we have.

Without having to hit it with a hammer too? I forgot to mention that as a last resort tactic.

Lol amazingly no hammer has been involved...yet. I tried them today and they decided to work. All the functions are fine. So....I'm not sure what it is yet.
