Default prep for smog test

I have to get my '86 IROC ready for smog testing in August, its running the stock 305 TPI.

Im planning on replacing the fuilds with Royal Purple, K&N filters, E3 sparkplugs, and a new smog pump.

Is there anything else I should do to get it ready for testing?

A couple things...is your smog pump missing? Because it's purpose is to keep emissions down on a cold engine until it and the cat converter heats up. You want the car tested with a completely hot engine and fully functioning cat. Replacing the pump just for the sake of replacing it would be a waste of money.
And E3 spark plugs suck!

The pump is shot.

What plugs would you suggest?

That question is probably going to get you a lot of different "opinions". I've used different brands of plugs over the years, and really haven't experienced any performance differences between them. I currently have Bosch Iridium (surface fire) plugs in my LT1 Vette, but I haven't noticed a difference, good or bad. Best thing is to get ones that are in your budget, that boast long life. Keep in mind with a surface fire plug, you don't get a "ring" of fire. The spark will travel the path of least resistance, one contact point at a time. I just wanted to try them for the concept, for having no shielding of the spark as in conventional plugs.
As far as the E3 plugs, I belong to a car club and we would periodically receive stuff for testing. About 6-8 guys got the E3 plugs, and the large majority of them had worse running and harder starting engines after putting them in. I have a new set of E3's sitting right here, and I'm not going to even waste my time trying them. You want em, come and get em!
