SpicyChicken,

Since you have a limited buget I would stick to limited buget parts to get the most you can out of your 305. I used to have a 1986 Monty with a 305 and I'll tell you what I did that helped out. I put in a 268H Comp Cam with their 1.52 roller rockers. Top that off with a performer or performer RPM intake and a 600 CFM holley. Put 3:55 or 3:73 gears in the rear. The cam will have a little rumpity rump at idle, but nothing drastic. All this can be had for under $800 and you would be off to a good start and happy with the way it runs. Then save up a bit and go for some exhaust. Drive that for a while and when it's not enough for you anymore, start saving for that new 350 or 383. I started small like you, on a limited budget then worked my way up to bigger and better things. No matter how fast the other guy is, as long as your having fun and enjoying your car. Thats what counts!
