pull the thermostat and see if its got anything clogging it up. make sure the motor cooling system is full when you take it out or put back together. could run water through the radiator from top to bottom, you may be better off pulling the radiator and flushing a few times, either way you will know if its not letting coolant through. if the green and orange antifreeze are mixed it turns to gel, that may be whats goin on to.

If you take the heater hoses loose from the engine, can you force water through one of the ports on the engine with a garden hose and get something coming out of the other one? (thermo removed of course) Like craby said, you may have to take the rad out and back flush it as well. But I'm kind of confused how you are getting heat from the heater if the water is not circulating and I would have thought the engine temp would have maxed the red zone. Need to try and determine if the coolant is not cirulating through the rad or the engine. Someone may have dumped a boat load of stop leak in there somewhere.

thermo was clean as yesterday when i put it in, have circulation now and steady stream coming from purge valve. heat blowing hot and air isn't cold but cool. only thing now is when i adjust from cold to hot the **** has resistance and tries to jump back to hot.
after half hour running i got the steady stream and temp never went above 180-195 or so where it was staying at 210

sounds like you may have it fixed. the **** thing has to do with the cable or the door inside the air control box.

yep, drove it yesterday without a problem. i'm guessing that when my Girlfriends uncle put the tension pulley on he didn't let the air out and i guess it just took it about a month for the pocket of air to cause any problems since it doesn't get driven that much. took it to the shop just to be sure and my mechanic said the head and intake gaskets seem to be fine...now i just got to get them spider gears and rear wheel bearings installed (i've been hauling them around in the trunk for 8 months now) thanks for the help
