Default Oil Leaks

1994 Camaro Z28 conv. My car makes that burnt oil smell when you get on it. I think it does that because the oil is dripping on to the exhuast pipe. I have changed the o-ring in the oil cap tube (the part that threads into the valve cover not the cap) it was leaking around the bottom of the cap tube, and I'm in the process of changing the valve cover gaskets (got drivers side done still need to do passenger side). If that don't work what else could it be?

What about the tranny? Do those newer ones have a vent tube? Could be blowing out that.

Just a thought..

Run your hand at the rear of the engine where the intake manifold meets the block. This is a common source of oil leakage. The oil leaks down the back of the engine and is often confused with a rear main seal leak. PS, don't do that on a hot engine, hurts fingers. lol

Just got the valve cover gaskets on, stoped what I can see, but I think its also leaking behind the harmonic balencer. My oil pressure went up to a little above the have way mark it was sitting at a quater above 0. Is this good or bad that it went up.

The valve cover gaskets should make no difference to the oil pressure, they are not part of the pressurized system.

There is a puddle behind the intake manifold on top of the tranny and its oil. So I guess i'm gonna change the intake manifold gasket if there anything else that could be leaking back there.

The heads have gaskets as well. You would probably end up changing the intake gasket anyways, it has to come off to get to the head gaskets. Might be a good idea to get a complete gasket set and do it up. Oil coming from behind the HB is an indicator of a spent front main seal.
