No! Red light!! Warning! If your not leaking then your burning it up some where. May be time to put in a fresh block?

A quart every 3000 miles is not a big deal, especially for an old engine. As long as it does not create a smoke screen while driving, maintains good oil pressure, and does not create a mess on the driveway, there is no real problem. Ifit were using a quart every 1000 miles, then it would be time to consider a rebuild. If it really worries you, you may try a heavier grade of oil, like 10W40 instead of the recommended 5W30 or 10W30. However; the heavier oil will not flow as readily as the lighter stuff and create additional wear on startup, but if you do a lot of highway driving, it should make no difference.

[&:] still sounds nice and tight to me!! when you consider what oil has to do and what all it coats on the inside of the engine this loss is well within acceptable limits. and from the blue oval camp itself they consider 800-1000 miles to the quart normal
