Default New Cold Air Intake = Rough Idle

Hey sorry i searched the forums but could not seem to find anyone with my same problem. i recently just installed a full cold air intake system that i bought from ebay, i know its not the best and the filter doesnt have the highest flow but i figured the piping and sleves seemed pretty solid, i also figured i could always buy a K&N filter later to replace the one i was given. the problem is that when i installed the new cold air intake i drove around for about 30 mins so the car could get use to the new mod but after i romped on it for a little while i got home and the car began to have a rough idle, everytime i start up the car it has slow bounces from 500 rpm to 1000 at idle, my car is a 1996 V6 3.8l engine with no other mods as of right now, what could be the problem later today im going to run a scan tool on it to see if its running any codes but as of right now i dont like how the engine is running irregular. here is the CAI system i bought

Not that I would think it would affect it much, but is the IAT sensor installed back? There should be no reason a cold air would make your car run rough.

Check the fuse for that, can be the cause half the time. Did you hurt the MAF sensor any? I don't know much about the V6's but figured I'd try to help you out?

This may help a little. You didn't disconnect anything else while swapping out the intake, did you?

Hey!! yeah everything was plugged in correctly, nothing missing. so i did decide to start unpluging things to see if anything would happen, and as soon as i unplugged the mass air flow sensor the engine immediately started to run smooth, huh? i drove with it for 15 mins and noticed when i got to stop lights and such that the car was driving smooth no hard idle. i'm wondering if i should replace the mass air flow sensor or just leave it unplugged, could it hurt the car in any way if i decide to leave it unplugged??

Get some MAF cleaner spray and see if that helps first.

well i did what everyone said and nothing seemed to work so i took out the cold air intake and threw in the stock, everything went back to normal, no rough idle or anything, bummer i was really feelin the deep throaty sound the car made, and i could tell that the throttle seemed a little more responsive wtf i dont understand how my car is the only car that has this problem, what a piece of sh**
