Default My car sucks 95 camaro

I recently started having a problem with my 95 camaro 3.4 liter. When it gets warmed up the engine start intermittingly cutting out as i'm driving, sitting there it just idles, it's a 5 speed ( which is rebuilt). the things I have done to it is changed the plugs and wires, checked for vacuum leaks and replaces the crankshaft positioning sensor under the harmonic balancer and the temp sensor on the intake and fuel pump. You can watch the rpm's and they jump around when the thing is cutting out.

How about the fuel filter? also, double check the plug wires to make sure that they didn't get into the manifolds and burn a hole in them. Just because they are new doesn't mean that they can't get into a hot spot and melt.

I have to replace the filter, sock and all that when the fuel pump is replace or the warrenty is void, and the price of the pump and location, i change everything. AS for the wires, the car has 250,000 miles on it, so I'm under the hood at least once a week, just checking over everything. It's not something that is visual, I was just hoping someone has had the same problem, but haven't found anything yet. It only does it when it goes to closed loop(?).

sounds like a bad connection or wire somewhere but if its only doing it in closed loop then im thinking cam sensor or wire/connector to it. pete will know more than i but i think it uses the crank sensor in open loop and cam sensor in closed.

You could try running with the MAF wires disconnected. This will keep the PCM in open loop and many sensor inputs are ignored. If the car now runs OK, then there is most likely a sensor problem, but not necessarily the MAF. Use a scan tool and look at all sensor outputs and make sure they make sense. You don't want to see something like the ECT saying the coolant is at 80 degree when the temp gage is indicating 180 deg.

Thanks Pete, I'll give it a shot. Drove it all day yesterday and no problems. ( THink it was that my buddy/mechanic was hanging out with me). He has a motis (?) that we can check everything out with.

I just wanted to give ya'll an update, the EGR tube going to the exhaust manifold was loose and the gasket was gone, replaced that and got my buddy over and put it on his machine ( because we weren't sure if we had to relearn the Crankshaft positioning sensor), everything else looked good, I went a head and change the plugs and wires. WE'll see, I'm driving it today!
