Default MPG and Insurance... 16 year old.

So I have 92 Z28 with a nice 305 TPI under the hood. Driving and paying for gas is new to me and paying insurance is too. I can't really afford either for this car.

I love Fbodies, but the my 305 TPI is killing me. What would you do...

Find a 305 TBI, I'm not worried about speed for my FBDD (Fbody Daily Driver) or...

Find a V6 for my DD, do they do good on gas? Or should I go for the TBI, do they do good on gas compared to the TPI?

My Z28 will be my "Weekend Warrior"

Also, how much of a change would their be in my insurance? TBI better then TPI?

-Peace

tpi would probably get better gas mileage than the throttle body. but your 16, you should get a v6. thats all you need right now. it wont make a difference if its TBI or TPI or carbed as far as insurance goes, its just like this, the newer the car , the more money for insurance, the older the car the less insurance will be. so look for like a 85 v6 fuel injected.

If you had a RS instead of the z28 you would save some money on insurance

There will be no TPI RS. The RS with a 305 is TBI. And the model does make a difference with insurance but not a whole lot. Change your driving habits to save on gas.
And redneck
I got 22 with my 305 TBI and spirited driving.....And 2.77 rear gears

Never knew that before about RSs and TBIs.

How should I drive then to save gas?

Over drive and easy on the throttle. Don't try to get in front when the light turns green. Its not a drag race. Pace along with others on the freeway. You do not need to pass everyone. MF will come from behind me and pass and pull in the lane in front of me and behind the vehicle I am following. WTF! people its not a race. Drive easy like you are holding a hot coffee filled all the way to the top and you do not want to burn your groin. See how that does for your MPG.
