Well V is for Flint

-????
04 Fourth Month
I3- Sure it isn't 13 than it would be the 13th day of the month
GF- 283 Turboglide and Fuel Injected

GF I know for fact is what I said it is.
The rest could be a casting like vin code.
F is usually for Flint, but that is when its on a Body Vin.
V can also be used for flint in other applications.

Behind the drivers side head should be a casting number
And on the pass side of the block deck just over the water pump is another number.

You need to look up the date casting on the bellhousing flange.
The "GF" suffix code was used more than one year; a 1955 265, a 1957 283 FI, or a 1965 283 2 barrel.

Even though the GF can be used on the three engines suggested, the other numbering for engine ID does not work out with those others.
V0413GF does however work to be a 1957 Bel Air Fuel injected engine with a turboglide.

Ok, I'm curious now what I must be missing. Since GF in itself can mean more than one engine, which part of the rest of the engine code is telling that it's the 57?
Is it the V (Flint engine plant), the 04 (April), or the (13)th day of the month? And to solve the other mystery, yes that what looks like an I is in fact a 1.
