lt5 into 97 z28

Default lt5 into 97 z28

The amount of money for my lt1 rebuild is adding up and i know someone who can get ahold of a lt5 .I know it was a 1992 corvette zr1 engine .For a few thousand more i can have a rare lt5 but will it fit a 1997 camaro and what do i need to make it work.the lt5 is a 2 bolt main is my camaro a two bolt or four .

Where can you get an LT5? I've only seen a pic of one in a Vette. That is a wicked looking engine. Good luck.

I'm almost positive the LT5 would be a 4 bolt main, because the LT4 was a 4 bolt. On the other hand, I'm not sure if it has the same mounting points etc. Remeber, anything will fit with enough time and money, it just depends on how bad you want this motor in it. I would personally advise against it, not only because you'll probably end up spending a lot more than you think on other misc parts like sensors and computer stuff, but in the future when you start having trouble with your LT5 it's going to be hell to get parts for it.

It is a quad cam v8, a marine motor company actually manufactured the motor, mercury marine, i believe, and what 95slvr said is very true, it is hard to get even the smallest parts for the motor, since it was only produced in indiana, or illiniois or something, but the motors do kick ***.

thanks for the advice .I agree it will be expensive now and in the long run,but can you blame me for trying .were talking an LT5.
