you must not know how to read ovlh8er.

well i think once electronics were introduced on cars it is gonna be problem no matter what, but as years went on more and more sensors were added to the car, good and bad.its good to have all those sensors to help manage your car better, but the sensors are pricey once they go bad.fuel injection is better as far as getting better fuel mileage, but to me you can tune carbs easier.but if you are to get a v8 id go with a lt1/ls1 as there are more parts available in the aftermarket and its easier to make more power with them.

You seem to do a lot of assuming Ovlh8er...

Anyway, back on topic, I'd agree with Alih, go for an LT1 or LS1, they're easy to deal with and have a good amount of parts easily available. If you have an EFI car that is running well it works great, you don't have to do anything to it to keep it running. The problems come when some sensor goes bad and you have to find out which one it is.

you would have a better chance finding a standard 4th gen as well, but it all depends on how much you want to spend...yes stock lt1s sound better to me, but a cammed ls1 is like heaven

Is it pick on Ovlh8er day? Some one let me know so I can join!

If this would be something you may want to build a V8 for You would have an easier time working under the hood of a 3rd gen. Also less electronics for the engine and transmission. If you want to just get in and go then LS1. I never cared for that LT1 ****. You may agree when you go to do a tune up.

You have a point on the tune up, working on the car under the hood is a *****. That's what you get when you have a car that was made to fit a V6 and GM shoe-horns in a V8. I personally think the LT1 sounds and performs great, plus, you can't argue with the 2nd most powerful traditional SBC to ever leave the factory! (the most powerful was the LT4...but it's still an LT!)
