Last Resort....Your help needed.....
Well i have just ran ou of roesources to get, and have nowhere else to turn. Here i have sitting on the side of my house a 1964 Chevy Truck that is in perfect condition... BUT... the thing wil not start. I have limited knowledge of this issue, but something i am definately not new to.....
I need your help...
I have done the normal things from the beginning...
- Change Sark Plugs
- New Wires
- New coil
When it came time to change the coil I had noticed that there is 4 wires, but two connections on the coil....
Mmm... What the heck... (obviosly not paying atention to the order of the wires coming off) but this was the reason I figured to replace the coil since it wasn't starting... Well here i am with a new coil, new plugs, wires and ignition switch...
Try to get the thing together the best i know.... negative wire coming from the distributor connected to the neg side of the coil, and then finding a constant 12v from switched ignition and that goes to the POS side of the coil. Figureing this would let the coil fire, and power a spark....
all this thing wil do is urn over without the smallest sputter which means there isn't any spark at all.
Your help is greatly appreciated..... I know this is something so simle, but i think i am overlooking something real simple...
Thanks in advance!!!

Did you pull the coil wire off the distributer and actualy look for spark? Is it a points ignition? Are the points good? Opening? Condensor good? Crank it over and watch the points for a spark.

I am guessing the truck uses point ignition.
Usually:
Two positive wires go to the + side of the coil. One wire comes from the ignition switch, through a ballast resitor or a resitance wire. The other wire comes from the starter. Two negative wires from the coil, onegoes to the distributor, the other goes to the tach. Also make sure the points aren't burned or welded toghether, and have the proper gap. Check for spark at wire from coil when cranking.
