do you think its worth paying the extra money for a K&N air filter over your stock one?

Definately most pay for themselves after what would normally be a couple filter changes and they flow better to boot especially for carbarated applications( by this i mean because they dont restrict flow as bad as they age or get dirty your carbs performance characteristics are retianed better) kurt

K&N if you want more flow but less filtering

Paper if you want more filtering but less flow

Been using the same TPI K&N filters for over ten years now with just regular cleaning and oiling. Are they worth it?? YES. But for the guy who cares nothing these things they are not.

Check how dirty and gritty the intake runners are if you use a K&N filter, do you really want to allow that into your engine?

For laughs I tried switching between K&N and a clean paper air filter at a 1/4 mile strip. Made 3 runs on each set up and there was no practical difference. Personally I rather put in a clean filter than mess around cleaning and oiling a used one. We used to do that 100 years ago with oil bath air filters. LOL. Seriously youhave to be careful not to over oil the K&N or the MAF sensor can get fouled, which can make the car run weird.

I agree. I have put K&N filters into several of my vehicles over the years, and I certainly never noticed a difference. But the main kicker is that for my 3.8L the filters are under $5!

there really is no performance gain over them. when properly oiled, they may catch more dirt. the only good filters ive seen are the style on dirt bikes with the paper filter with an oiled foam prefilter.
