and the fly wheel too. its on my 86 z28 tpi, with a brand new 700r4. tranny fluid seams to be fine (light amount past the full line, bright red). i noticed it because i was inspecting my lights and heard a click noise and though maybe it was my exhaust, looked underneth and saw the bright blue converter spinning. its on the passenger side, and is an opening about half an inch to the top, and gets narrow to a close at the bottom. what can i do to fix this? is there a rubber seal, a metal shield, or is my tranny about to fall off?

is the bolt holding the dust shield coming loose? gone? sounds like you have a shield, but that it is coming off at one point. if you have a digital camera, take a quick snap-shot, and we'll be able to tell you.

The tranny case around the converter and flywheel is at an angle from the tranny pan to the bottom of the block. There should be a plastic cover that fills in the rest of that area.
