how much for LT1 rebuild
I am looking to rebuild my lt1 this week.the estimates are all over the place you guys are the experts.Iam looking for a stock spec rebuild all stock parts and specs. How much is a reasonable price for a rebuild with and without parts.Does any one know a good shop in the northern california and southern oregon area?
I was told that the rebuild kit for an lt1 was somewhere in the range of 2000 - 2500 just for the kit not any labor . i know this for a fact that that the eng pull will be over 2000 i have had to pull mine twice in the last month.

It depends on deep you want to get into it. To bring the typical V8 up to factory specs, you are looking at about 40 labor hours + parts. This includes: Measuring cylinder bores, crankshaft & pistons & connecting rodsfor proper size, hone cylinders, replacepistons rings, pins, main & rod bearings, regrind crank if necessary (at extra cost)check camshaft & valve train, replace cam bearings, resurfacing the heads, regrind valves, and tune up. You can save some money by taking the engine apart and assembling it yourself, and letting the machine shop do all the other work, but in this case there will be no warranty. Let the machine shop get the pars for you, the cost may beless than you buying them, and you will be sure that they will fit.
