Hey guys.. dont really no where to start but here goes.... i baught my car bout 4 months ago right before winter, it did not run but the place gaurenteed me the car runs good just been sitting since 01 so i take her home and put in the garage, later i changed the plugs fluid random **** and tried to start it, it would turn over and over but not fire up, then as i cranked on it more and more its started to run for like a second then would die...

also was shooting flames out the intake, we used a little gas to try to help her start, but a freind of mine said he thinks its the timming chain, and that would make a little sense until the kicker...

when the garage i baught the car from got it.. the water pump had been laying in the back seat and everything in that area is loose, so i am thinking one of the mechanic's maybe just slapped it all back together and forgot to set the optispark at top dead center...

guys... this is my first camaro and i havent heard her run yet.. PLZ help me out lol

Could be the opti. Is the gas also the same gas that has been in the tank since 01? I would change out ALL the fuel, maybe even get a new filter. Give it a good once over (all filters, fluids, plugs - like you mentioned before) then see how it runs. The flame out of theintake is indicitive of a timming issue, get all the other things on line first then it will be easier to diagnose the true problem.

 

i pulled one of the injectors to see if i was getting fuel up there and i am.. thats how i drained what little fuel was left.

 

fuel can degrade over time. you get a bad tank and everything seems to be running weird. but it should still run.....

 

Is there any way to find out if the opti is set at TDC without pulling everything apart?
