Engine doesnt like to idle down?
When I go to shift and step on the clutch, the engine rpms dont drop right away. Sometimes it will hang there for 3-5 seconds before it starts to drop. Seems to do it more in the mornings when its cold. This is on a '94 Camaro with the 3.4l V6. Any Ideas?

RE: Engine doesnt like to idle down?
For starters: throttle linkage sticking, including cruise control cable, weak return spring, IAC valve sticking, throttle valve out of adjustment, vacuum/air leaks after the throttle valve, PCV valve stuck open,etc.. The IAC controls the idle speed but can only react so fast. The valve normally sits at the center of its travel and can make idle adjustments quickly. However, if there are vacuum leaks or the throttle valve is notclosing properly, it will takethe IAC more time to bring down the air fed to the engine, and if the leaks are big enough it won't be able to do it.
