cold air alum vs steel
ok the question is i bought a cold air kit for a 3800 v6 and it came with what appears to be a exhaust tube with a k and n cone filter. what ive noticed about it is its actually very hot after running so wouldnt this be more of a hot air and negate any gains and also does anyone no if the slp kit would produce more ower with its steel tube or would that create heat to?

RE: cold air alum vs steel
If the filter is in the engine compartment, you do not have a CAI and are sucking in hot air from under the hood. If it is really sucking in cold air from the outside, the tobe should be cooler than its sorroundings. You would be better off with a non metallic tube so that the intake air is insulated from the high temp under the hood; although at the speed the air is traveling through the tube it does not get to absorb much heat.
