Default Chevy 305 Horsepower ... Ignorance Isn't Bliss

most people for lack of knowledge down the 305 ... complaining that they cost too much to build ... they can't produce good horsepower ... BULLCRAP. besides my 300 horsepower purple mustang eater their are plenty of major companies that have produced good horsepower with reasonable means using the 305. here's a few articles and part suppliers for the 305 fans. be sure and check out the photos of the super stock 305 pulling wheelies. Enjoy and Merry Christmas.

No replacement for displacement. What did you pay to get your 300 hp?
Just for records http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...831+115+400129 that's what a 350 performance 320 horsepower motor costs.

you'll never win your case with me ... your barking up the wrong tree. i stand by my principals and i don't waiver. anyone can buy something at the dollar store. i built mine with my own hands, knowledge, and means. you can't put a price tag on that. you just don't get it do ya? some understand ... some never will. its beyond your comprehension. don't blow a gasket trying ... just let it go. breath in ... breath out. I'm just saying dollar per dollar. If you build a 350 and a 305 with the same budget...

Its called technology. I bought a Ducati 748 and spent about the same for it as a guy did for his 1500 harley motor. The guy asked me what the HP is and I said with my minor mods it should be around a moderate 97 at the rear wheels. He said "That aint ****. My harley has that. I thought that bike was hot." Big dummy did not think that I have a smaller cc than his and the same HP. He is also one of those that still think there is no substitute for displacment.

In your case. Ricers can turn around and say just the same thing. They're pushing out almost 500 horsepower from a 134 CID. 2.0L Vtech Hona. They dump a **** load of money into it. IF you put $10,000 in a Honda, IT MIGHT beat a Camaro. So if you put $10,000 in the Camaro, you're still gonna get your *** whopped. You could build a stroker 305 or for the same price you could build a stroker 350. I know you are very closed minded but if you would break it down for me to understand. I might change my perspective.

sometimes winning isn't enough. sometimes its how you win that makes the difference. when i win i've usually won against a bigger more powerful engine and sometimes its against someone with alot more experience.bracket racing isn't the same as heads up drag racing. you have to know your car. you have to know the lights. you have to take chances. seeing the face of someone driving a hemi that just got smoked by a 305 is priceless. when istarted out my car ran mid 16's now its in the mid 13's. i've made a couple changes lately hopefully i'll be in the 12's this season and with a 305that i bought, tore down, designed, and built with my own hands. dude it's priceless. it wasn't about getting a body and throwing a big engine in it. i wanted to take what GM had produced and make it faster than it was designed to be. and it isn't just about the engine. i tore out the wiring harness and rewired it myself. rebuilt the front suspension myself. rebuilt the rearend myself. had to do some frame mods here and there. i took what was a fairly fast car and made it alot faster by adding simple modifications. when i win it isn't because of sheer horsepower. it's because of time, care, thought, and determination. it makes the wins so much sweeter. i could go on an on norm but, your not gonna get it. there are those that throw big engines in cars and go fast then there are racers. i'm a racer. I bet your car would make more power/torque if youditched that tunnel ram for a decent single or even RPM air gap manifold.
I hear what you are saying Sick, it's always fun beating a more powerfull car, thats why I like to go agaist trailered in race cars in my full weight car that drove to the track. I race in a heads up index class (12.5 breakout) which is sorta similar to brackets, and last year I went to the finals in the first race I entered, knocking out the points leader in the first round, who was running a Stang with a cage, C4 with a trans brake and spray and I still out ran him, and even sand bagged on him.

i've tried a dual plane which was recomended for my cam but, it consistantly ran a few tenths slower. my thinking is with the huge long straight runnersi'm sacrificing a little horsepower for a few more ft/lbs of torque. i might try a single plane and see if i can get a little improvement. i'm getting ready to pull the tranny and put in a stall. i'm hopeful that will gain me another half second. been procrastinating the tranny pull. i'm usually working on it by myself and i "ain't" quite as young as i used to be. i used to be able to bench press a tranny in ... hold it with a knee and start the bolts. last time i tried it damn near killed me LOL. I would try a single plane. Tunnel rams generally cost low end TQ in favor of high rpm power, but it is always dependant on the combp. Your still running a stock stall?? You should pic up at least .3-.5 with a good converter.
