Default Charging System Problem Need Advise

All of these fun problems[:@].. Anyway, I think that I have a problem with my charging system? Basically, my car will start up fine but as soon as it warms up, the battery gauge will show almost zero and the windows will not move up at all. If I let it sit over night, the car will start up fine the next morning. What do you think is going on? Thanks

most likely your sending unit to your gauge or the gauge itself is bad.

Thank you for your reply Alih. I did not mention in my last posting that it seems like the battery is really low and it will barely turn the car over now (this is when the car is hot. Tomorrow morning it will start up like it was charged overnight even though it was not charged. Any thoughts?

go to your local parts store and get the battery and alternator tested, that is your best bet

If you have a multimeter then put it on direct current and
1. Measure your batt volts.
2. Start engine and check again. should be between 11.8v and 13.5v
3. Place POS+ probe on your red power cable on the rear of the alternator and NEG- on the case of the alternator

You should have around 13.5-15volts coming from your alt. I don't trust having an auto store check your system unless neccessary because they don't know what there doing. My 86 Z28 had the same alt checked by three different Advance Auto employees and I got a different answer everytime. O and also check the little white plug that comes from your alt to make sure you have definiate contact. If you have a carbed motor check to make sure your choke heater is shtting off after the motor starts.

Alternator is going out on you and only charging the battery half the time. The battery is starting the car and the next thing to go is the battery. Hope you have AAA for a tow because you will be stranded by the side of the road very soon.
