Well i cleaned out my carb today with carb cleaner and changed the spark plug wires and now the car drives like crap and the engine will backfire from the carb when i press the gas. Please someone help me out here thanks! its a 79 camaro berlinetta w, a 305

 

Check and make sure you put the wires on in the correct order

 

or check the vacuum lines ur might be sucking air inthe carb

 

I'll go with MadMike on this one. If it worked OK before you changed something, you caused the trouble and need to retrace your steps. Probably the plug wires are not making good connection, or could be connected wrong, or something broke when you put the new wires in.

 

#5 and #7 may be crossed...or powervalve?
