Default Buying a Camaro, need advice.

Hello. I'm taking Driver's Ed right now, and I'm 99% sure that I'll be buying a Camaro not too long from now.

When my grandfather died, rest his soul, he left me his van to me. It's a Dodge Ram van 1500, and Kelly Blue Book puts it at roughly $4500. I want to sell that, and buy a used Camaro for the same price.

So, my question(s) to the population here are these: What model should I look at? What year? After how many miles does a Camaro start to lose it's Camaro-ocity?

Your opinions on these questions, and any advice and/or tips on being a first-time camaro driver, along with a first-time driver in general, would be greatly appreciated. (Boy, was that a run-on.)

What do your parents say about having a Camaro? That is cool that your grandfather left you a van but remember KBB is just a guideline, market and where you take it will determine how much you actually get for it.

my parents have more or less ok'ed the camaro. However, they think the camaro will get as good/worse gas mileage as the van gets. -_- I think that's just a stupid thing to say, but I don't know a lot, so I could be wrong. And I don't plan on getting exactly what KBB tells me I can get, I'll negotiate a bit. I still hope to make 4000 off of it though. And surprisingly, my parents' insurance doesn't change much between me driving the van or a camaro. o.O

And I'm struggling to choose between a v6 and a v8.

The v6 is probably better for me, but... it's not a v8! If you get what I'm trying to say.

Thats true you might not be able to get kbb. I would reccommend you looking at about a 95 or 96 for your price range. You probably want be able to find one with less than 100k on it. My v6 one has over 140k on it and still havent had any problems out of it. The lt1 motors will go for a long time if you get a v8.

$4500 will also get you a nice 3rd gen Camaro. Ive seen 84-88 cars for less than $4500. An example, theres an original ownerwhite w/blackleather interior 84 z28 convertable for $4500 here in town. Great body syle.

Very nice. Lets see.....Your taking drivers ed, and from there to a 350hp Camaro, thats designed for speed andserious performance? When I was your age 15ishI guess, I raced my moms 70 350 Novaand I got into all kinds of trouble, including wrecking it. Then I found an all original454/SS 70 Chevelle for sale (only $4,000 in 84')and would have bought it if my dad had let me. He said It was too much power for a 17 year old and that I would wrap it around a tree!
He probably saved my life.
If you buy this Camaro, be responsible and dont give in to pressureto race it.........
