well when i turn it off aidiot light comes on by the spedometer that says ASR OFF. but when i turn it on it goes away. so i figured to leave it on

ASR (Acceleration Slip Regulation) is also commonly referred to as "traction control". Turn it off when you want to have control and to be able to break the tires free without having the car take control. I used to leave it active during a rain to help prevent the *** of the car from passing up the front! Otherwise, it got shut off every time.
