I went to change the spark plugs in my 1993 Lumina today and one of the plugs was broke in half, it was snapped off where the porcelin met the metal part, The car will not run at all the other plugs were fouled badly withoil on them. anyone know what would have caused the plug to break in half?

i should elaborate, i was driving down the road and the oil light came on and then the car stopped running and wouldnt run anymore, i changed the oil and stuff and then i tohught it wouldnt run because the oil pressure sensor wouldnt let the engine fire and ended up fouling the plugs so i went to change them and found the above. now it starts and runs when i hold the gas down but it sounds hurendous.

if it was torqued in too tight this could happen

Did it run ok after it was replaced? Almost every time I have seen the plug broke like that it was because it was cracked when installed or removed. There is no way the engine ran without a miss with a cracked plug. I did say almost, I have seen motors blow and allow the piston to strike the bottom of the plug causing the top of the plug to fly off. Agg oil light on and a broken plug on a car that did not miss before the oil light came on? I know what I would be thinking until I heard it run again.
