And another...
im guessing that this is a no brainer, but i want to see what you guys think.
when the car is running, i can hear a clicking noise from the engine bay with the hood open, when i duck down to under the engine, it gets even louder. i think it might be coming from the harmonic balancer, either it's shot, or the contact point on the front timing chain cover has gone bone dry...
any input is terrific! thanks yet again camaroforums.com!!!

Automatic or stick? I have had cracked flex plates that sounded like a valve tap but like you said it was loader under the car. Back in the 88-89's I replace a few flex plates while still under warranty.
Does it run good, while driving? no pinging or knocking, poor acceleration? reason im asking is because the knock sensor is located down on the front of the block passenger side by the starter, and mine makes the same noise, so it might be the culprit? just a thought? Good luck!
