Annoying Cricket Chirping Noise
Can anyone help me possibly diagnose this annoying chirping cricket noise
-Usually only hear it once car is fully warmed up
-Gets much loader when accelerating, especially 55mph +
-When I come to stop after hearing the noise, and put the car in PARK, the noise disappears or gets very quiet. I put it back in Drive, noise comes right back
Could this be transmission related ?
THREE different shops have told me they either cant hear it , or they hear it and it goes away

You might start by letting us know what year/model?.....I-6 or V-6 or V-8? stock exhaust or headers? etc.
Assuming it an auto trans since you said "put it in park".
Come on,how are we supposed to diagnose a sound over the internet when we don't even know what kind of car we're working on lol.
I'll take a shot in the dark and say it could be a flexplate (auto flywheel) rubbing on the tin cover over the ring gear.
If the flexplate is cracked or warped or the cover has been dinged in it could be making contact when it's in gear.
This might also be a sign of excessive crankshaft endplay from what I've heard.

But if you have this car: http://www.allpar.com/model/cricket.html the sound is normal.

damn..i thought you were talking about that crazy interior noise lol..its gonna drive me nuts, and i know it has to be common cause it did it in my firebird and my camaro..it seems like it comes from the left side back by the hatch but i'm not sure because i only hear it when the car is moving and has some vibration going on
