Default '99 windshield wiper problem $$$$

Bought another Camaro, a '99, and knew the wipers would only work on high. Had a shop check it out and they say I need a new motor, computer card, and a disposable connecting arm, all of which with installation will cost me well over $700!!!
This is a rip off even if I do need them and they do cost this much, but can you help me?
Is this cost in the ball park?
Can I do this with aftermarket or junk yard parts?
Can I expect the operation on "High" to quit soon?
Please help anyway you can....

Look for a wiper module. Its bolted to the motor and controls what the motor does. You may find one on ebay. I have seen them new there and fairly inexspensive. Or look it up online like at autozone or what ever is in your area. They are easy to change. The shop told you evry thing but the switch. Some one there could not diag the excact problem?

Thanks for the help, MadMike. I have not had a chance to look and see if the module has a part number, which I will need to find a replacement. I had heard some of these parts were no longer available through GM.
