98 V6 3.8L not starting
Hey guys, it's been a while since I've posted here; I've been busy with a lot of stuff...speaking of busy. For the past month, I've had troubles with my car starting and now it refuses to start at all. I've changed the battery, removed the starter, got it tested at autozone where the guy said he's never seen a starter so bad, got a new starter, installed it and double checked everything and my car still will not start. It won't even click. I've also checked all the fuel lines and injectors and all that jazz. What else could it be? I'm thinking ignition? It's started once and only once since this started happening. Since then, the only way I've ever been able to get it started was with a push start or just roll down a big hill until I get enough speed to start.

I am not sure if you problem is the fact it will not crank or crank fast enough or it cranks fine but it will not start up. You know you should only crank a motor about 15 seconds after that you need to let it sit for about 2 minutes. Starts are not rated for continuous use. If you do not let them cool down you will destroy even a new starter.

Most likley its the Vats system. It could be a bad key. Is the light on? Are you sure you enough power? How does the horn sound? There is a small wire and a large wire running into the starter. You need to get a test light on the small wire and see if you get power when you try to start it.

The security light has been on for the past year. But last night, the car started, but then refused to start again. Wait, if it were the vats, wouldn't it refuse to start with a push/bump start?

Correct it would not start either way. You need to check the little wire going to the starter for power when you are trying to crank. Its could be an ignition switch or your neutral safty switch or Clutch switch.
