95 camaro wont heat temp gauge not rising
3.4 v6 doesnt heat up or blow any heat at all when driving down the road. if you let it sit for a while the gauge will go up to operating temp but still doesnt blow hot air it is just enough to take out the chill but thats it. i have put three new thermostats in it and also had the radiator flushed out but nothing works. any help would be appreciated im sick of freezing. also put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator and still no help. someone told me it could be the temp switch which they said is by the thermostat housing area is that possible? its just acting like no thermostat in it at all.

Fouledheater core probably. The 3.4 has two different temperature sending units. One for gauge, and one for the computer. Sounds like the one for the gauge works. Perhaps the needle is off.

[&:] couple things come to mind are your fans on all the time?? heater core could be plugged while these dont explain everything they may hold some clues id look at getting some manual temperature checks done (laser and infra red and or probes) to see if things are warming up properly or just a series of elec failures cable failure for heat select switch kurt

Give it the old feel test. After the engine has fully warmed up, feel the top radiator hose. If it feels uncomfortable the engine is making heat. As jetpilot mentioned, the heater core is known to get plugged up with gunky coolant. Feel the two heater hoses, they both should be about as hot as the radiator hose, if they areconsiderably coolerthen coolant is not flowing through them. Disconnect the hoses from the engine side, stick a garden hose with a pointy nozzle into one of the heater hoses, and use the water pressure to blow the gunk out of the other hose. (Try not to get the ignition stuff wet)
Test the temp gage by disconnecting the lead from the sending unit and shorting it to the engine block. Turn the key to ON, if the gage is good it will swing to max. If the gage works properly, then the sending unitis probably bad. The TEMP gage sending unit is located to the back of the coil pack near the power steering pump with a Dark Green wire sticking out of it.
