Default 94 Z28 Starter Relay

Hey, my friend's got a 94 Z28 V8 with some starting issues. We're trying to locate the starting relay and cannot seem to find it anywhere. It's not in the box of relays on the front driver's side under the hood and it's not in the fuse box on the driver's side of the car with all the standard fuses. Anyone got any suggestions as to where it's at?I spent the better part of today searching online and in the car and cannot find it. Thanks
-Chris

Starter relay? You're looking for the starter solenoid, which acts as a relay switch. It's mounted right on the starter itself. What exactly is the problem with the starter anyway, you didn't say?

[&:] chris if its the relay/ starter solenoid you seek ill have to refer you to camaro 69's response but if its the theft deterrent relay your looking for my manual for a 95 has it located on the right side of the supplemental inflatable restraint bracket behind the instrument panel. i hope that was what you meant as this relay interrupts the signal to the starter if not energized kurt

There is no starter relay as such, but if the car has VATS (PASS=Key II), there is a Theft Deterrent Relay which controls the power to the starter solenoid coil. The relay is controlled by the VATS module. The relay is hidden under the right side of the dash, behind the Air Bag Control module. Power to the relay coil comes from FUSE #17 in the Inst Pan fuse block (left side of inst pan). The VATS module operates the relay by placing a ground on pin # 86 of the relay. If the relay is not operated, the ignition switch can't send power to the starter solenoid coil. Also in the path from the ignition switch is the Neutral Safety Switch or the Clutch Start Switch.
