87 camaro 2.8 auto
hi i just bought an 87 camaro. i dont know very much about cars mechanics wise. my oil and service engine soon light are on but i changed the oil and its where its suppose to be. also if the car is just sitting idle the oil light is on but as soon as you give it gas it goes away. also when i use my right blinker it works outside the car but fails to show on the inside. my guess is the electric setup is going bad or the censors need to be fixed. any ideas im sure you guys know way more than i do?
please help
thanks in advance

Your oil light (idiot light) that's going on, is telling you have low oil pressure, not a low oil level. The light going on at idle and off when engine speed picks up, is a classic sign of engine wear (badly worn bearings lowers the oil pressure). Or if you're lucky, by a slim chance it might be a bad oil sending unit.
If you're not seeing a blinker light on the dash, but both front and back turn signals are working, then you most likely have a burned out bulb or a bad connection on the cluster.
And for the record, next time you're looking at buying a car, and the oil light goes on at idle....don't buy the car!

so theres no way its a censor or something stupid? when i bought the car and took it for a run there was no light on until a few days later.
the car runs great other then this light bull**** though.
what can i do if the bearings are badly worn? i wouldnt imagine thats an easy fix is it? does it hurt to drive it if its worn?

What weight oil did you just put in? If it's a lighter viscosity, drain it and put in heavier weight. Or drain a couple of quarts and put in some 20w50 or an oil treatment additive (motor honey type). If your oil pressure shoots back up and stays, you have bearing issues. Worn bearings causes more clearance between the surface of the bearing and the journals. More clearance = less pressure, but thicker oil can help cushion that gap better. I have a feeling the previous owner may have been running thicker oil because of the oil pressure. Now that you changed the oil, probably with thinner stuff than was in there, the low oil pressure is showing itself again. Replacing the bearings involves a rebuild, or at least a lower end rehab. You can change the sending unit to at least know for sure if it's accurate or not. I have had one go bad before, and the oil reading would keep getting lower and lower as I was driving. But if yours is a high mileage engine, I wouldn't get my hopes too high.
