Default 86 z28 thermostat

[&:]i just bought a 86 iroc z 28 1 owner with 65200 original miles.the owner said it has a 220 degree t-stat in it.i believe this was a oem install for emissions but not really sure.chilton manual show the engine should have a 195 stat.my concern is if i r/r the stat to a 195 degree will i need a new temp sensor for fan control or what. is the fan programable thru the computer?
thanks

[X(] unless im mistaken it should have a 195 thermostat and i dont know if they even make a 220 one as this is above the boiling point. id make sure and put a new 195 into it. the fans are designed to turn on around 220 for most gm stuff and this is a function of one of the two sending units and the thermostat has nothing to do with this. so no, no sending units need to be changed regardless of what thermostat is installed. id guess the previous owner thought it was a 220 cause thats when the fans kick on (normal) kurt
