1st Gear Slipping

Default 1st Gear Slipping

Greetings,

I have an 86 Iroc automatic. When I take off from a dead stop, I hear a grinding noise and it has trouble going forward. If I apply the gas slowly, it will engage with a bit of reluctance. But if I give it any more gas at all, it makes that lovely grinding sound and hardly moves at all. The transmission was rebuilt less than a year ago. Any thoughts?

So does that mean it's going out altogether? A friend who owned an IROC said the "rings may be slipping." Does that sound right? I know next to nothing about this stuff. Can transmissions be adjusted, or do they just bite the dust?

clutches are gone. it will gradually get worse and worse. sick
