New owner but the VATS was the first thing I surfed the net about

The first question did you get your resistance right on your jumper wire, sounds like your being locked out by the VATS system the same as if you tried to use the wrong key, also;

The VATS system is two parts ignition and module, the security light and split second start you're now getting is the indication one went bad or now your jumper wire resistance is wrong. Did you try your jumper wire on both sets of wires where you spliced?

This site explains it really well;

Ebay; has several systems which eliminates the VATS, one other thing I found out is even if you take the VATS system out of the loop stick with the VATS key other blanks have to be modified (shortened) to fit in the cylinder.

The garage is always the best place for it to happen at least it didn't happen in the middle of no-where on a dark and rainy night! Kind of like running out of gas while pulling up to the pumps and a neutral roll the last few feet!
