Default 01 SS seriously lacking-HELP

Just recently got back from afghanistan and bought an 01 SS that had MSD coils/wires and a new clutch. Fastest car I had ever driven, and having it in Germany where im stationed is a slight pain in teh *** for modifications etc. I put an exhaust on it and took it on the autobahn screamin it up to 150...once i got off i noticed it was running like **** and lacking serious power. The german mechanic who works on muscle cars said i needed a timing chain set and spark plugs so i brought them to him as well as Underdrive pulleys, oil pump, intake and MAF (all SLP). 940 Euro later or lke 1300 bucks i got it back running a little better with less misfiring but still jacked up and with the maf and pulleys u can feel the extra power bein held back. He said i needed new wires and showed me a corroded one so i elec. taped it off. before i do anything else and give this guy more money i need some advice from experts. Im goin back to the desert in 3 months and want to have this thing runnin 100% asap. Thanks for all ur help- Z

[X(] have you had the catalytic converter checked?? after a hot lap like that you may have started a meltdown in the cat causing a lack of power. id at the very least have the computer scanned to see why it is tripping the check engine light this may also give you some direction on your power problem. definately take care of the plug wires as any missing(or lack of spark) in a cylinder will cause all sorts of problems including those you mention are occuring . im not sure how mechanics shops work there in germany but if i took my car in for a specific problems and the guy sold me on a bunch of parts and i still had problems i think id start rattling some cages kurt

Find another mechanic man. If the Check Engine Light is on you can scan the computor and it will tell you what is going on. 2nd that MAF is a waist of money and will not get you any power gains at your current level of mods and may actually cause it run a bit lean. Put the stocker back on untill you are at least 400 rwhp. The underdrives are fine. You need to find the mis-fire and that means finding a tech with at least an OBDII scanner or better yet HP Tuners, but over there that might be a tall order.

ok i found the misfire its right in front of the engine on the right side...now just a matter of getting wires from summit. Once its fixed i should be runnin at ALMOST 400 maybe 380....should i really take the MAF off? thanks for the advice

Did you get the computor scanned? That NEEDS to be done. Yes I would put the stock MAF back on, just because somthing is an aftermarket part does not mean it is always better. The mods in your sig are not going to get you anywhere near 400 rwhp, your looking at maybe 320-330 max.

not scanned yet thats the misfire the german told me about. Theres a shop on base with american military mechanics that im sure know alot more about camaros, just may be a problem with the equip. Ill have them scan the computer and switch back the maf while im at it. Toss the wires on and hopefully be golden. What would shoot my HP up fastest besides cam and lifters? i wanna hold that off until after this deployment. Im thinkin headers?...

Headers would be a good next step, and ASP crank pulley is good for a few HP. Are you an auto or6 speed.
