01 camaro
just purchased my first camaro, when starting the car it makes a noise like a rock is rolling around in the exhaust or muffler area...so i put this question out to you enthusiasts..would any one have an idea why or what could possibly be making this kind of noise? I avoid wanting to go to just any garage seeing how I'm just a girl and I don't want any mechanic trying to tell me something different as to what the real possibility is so I'd like to go in with a little knowledge..Please help

RE: 01 camaro
no, we didn't get an answer... I'd suggest starting it up, leave it in park (or neutral w/ e-brake if its a 6spd) and get out of the car. Walk around it; maybe get down on the ground and try to describe for us where the sound is coming from. Maybe pop your hood and check to see if anythings flopping and clanging around in there.

Could be the exhast system moving about and contacting the bodywork or the frame probably a broken hanger, or could be the cat has broken down internally and the pieces rattling about inside the exhaust system..

I wouldn't think a 01 would already have converter problems, but maybe with high miles. a muffler hanger I think, you would hear at other times to. I own a 2001 ss, completly stock from the dealer, but when you cold start it, it kind of a loud rattle <or some of the car guys call it rapps> for a second as it comes down to high idle, just a thought from a newbie
