there a low-mid 13sec car stock with the stage 3 arent they? yea, thats the best part about turbo engines is like 300 bucks of mods you can double ur HP, but only to a certain extent too... then a v8 becomes cheaper.
no ,low 12's to high 11's with stage 3. talk to bluebeast on here.
only $300 to double my hp ? wow 460 hp, i wish it was that cheap !

well, prolly not for the SRT4, but my friend took his turbo eclipse, bought a used wastgate and a used controller for 300 bucks, and hit 330WHP if i remember correctly, he took it back off, afraid he was gonna blow another engine, but that close to doubling the HP(bout 380crank compared to the stock 200).

nice looking srt4 btw. hope it dont live up to the neon legacy but chances are it will.

it is irritating how cheap it is to make those things fast. However, i didnt think bluebeast was quite that fast (11s) and he is stage3 plus come goodies. I could be wrong though.

all they are is a badass engine though, alot of them dont even have a/c. and im sure they'll live up to the neon legacy. but for 14grand u get a 12/13sec car.

but in the end its still a neon lol. neon legacy indeed.
*sigh* yeah...
SomeAustrian came up to me and told me my car looked real nice but the neon engines were totally junk. I agreed... then popped the hood...

thanks for the compliment.
i have to agree with you on the neon legacy but the srt engine is totaly different.
if that was the case it would have died on me a long time ago. from the time i got it to now i have over 300 runs in at mo-kan dragway(i have all the time slips)and quite a few street races. only problems i have had was the throttle position sensor and i broke a lower motor mount bolt at the track , that scared me ! i have beat the living crap out of this car and it keeps asking for more.

my friend's broke the engine mounts 4 times in his neon, it isnt a SRT4, but yea lol. ive seen alot of neons have alot of problems unrelated to engine too, such as suspension, steering and tranny, but i donno, dodge has done a good job on both the SRT(like u said)and the HEMI name.

SRT engine vs. 2.0L DOHC neon engine -

SRT engine has stronger pistons and rods. Same cylinder head, but with smaller cams. A slightly longer stroke. The block has oil squirters built in to spray the bottoms of the pistons. Past that, everything is still "just a neon". The bottom end and transmission of a normal neon is almost identical to the eclipse 420a. They are good motors. Chrysler just screwed up big in the first few years of the neon by putting in a paper head gasket, which ruined the reputation of the neon engine forever. After they repaired that, they became good engines. Hell, I'm running mid 12s on a stock SOHC neon engine, and I don't even have the beefier pistons and rods that came in the SRT4 or the extra 20% displacement. That's gotta say something.

And besides the engine, the neon is exactly what chrysler designed it to be. A cheap as hell car that has a little more power than the competition and slightly fewer rattles. Put a neon against a cavalier, and it's hard to determine a winner. It comes down to personal preference at that point.
