does anybody know the Radar Detecot law for New York State. Is it illegal to have one in your car, and if it is whats the consequence if caught?

 

In NY state radar detectors are only legal in passenger cars, they are illegal if you have commercial plates. NY state uses a lot of umarked cars to cruise the highways and clock you by following you. They will radio ahead to a chase car which will then pull you over. Of course if you get stopped for speeding, and the cop notices a radar detector it proves to him that you had intentions of going over the limit and won't cut you a break.
