Alright, so it starts out like this... I'm driving my 89 RS V8 305 TBI 5speed down the road and I turn to get onto an onramp. I get on and check my rearview and notice a green 4th gen camaro behind me. It had the V8 in it and I would guess its about an '01 or so.

Immediately once I get on the onramp, I floor it, getting up to 75 pretty quick. The camaro follows suit and after I hit 75, he starts to catch up to me rapidly. I pull into the left lane, and he pulls right along side me. I look over to my right at him and he checks my car out. I get the head nod approval and I give him a courtesy approval. All this time while exchanging looks with him and staying by his side, I never look down to check my speed. You think I coulda told by the sound of my engine or the trees racing by me as I fly down the freeway? No Way! I glance down to notice my needle is no longer inSpeedo Number Zone. As we all know, the 89 only has a speedo going up to 115. By the position, I had to be going about 120. Ridiculous? To me, yah... To him, no... I start to slow down and he takes off still going prolly about 120 or 125 down the highway, weaving in and out of traffic. I hope he didn't get pulled over cuz that would not be cool lol.

yep...they had V8 RS gen3's and earlier

I cant believe they even made an RS that wasn't a V8.

 

I think the RS had the option of a V8 (305)

yea...they just made a V6 that had more power than the previous V8

 

On occasion... Yah lol. The only races I've ever lost were to my friends dad's '79 'vette and a supercharged F350 powerstroke diesel. But that race he beat me off the line and I caught up about 1/4 mile later lol.

 

I agree. I think a Camaro without a V8 back in the third gens was as gay as seeing 50,000 mustangs everyday that have the V6 in them being driven by people that think they are cool. I like seeing the looks on their faces though, when I roll up next to them at a stoplight and I beat them in a small sprint.
