I finally took my car down to our local track and ran it in the 1/4 for the first time ever. I got a 1999 z28 with a 6 speed and my best run of the night was a 14.043. The only mods are intake, a flowmaster muffler and a Hurst short shifter. I got Falken Azenis on the back. Pretty sticky tires.
Anyone got any tips when it comes to launching a z28 with an LS1? Im hoping to get at least a 13.6 next time im there and the my launches are what sucked.

 

With a stick you need to practice and practice. You want a some wheel spin to prevent bogging, but not enough to light up the tires. DO NOT dump the clutch, it can get very expensive and does not improve your launch. Do not wait for the light to turn green, go right after the last amber light goes off. And PRACTICE!! You'll get it right after a few hundred times. LOL

how many runs did you make?

 

I ran 3 times.
My 1/4's were: 14.515, 14.046, and 15.594 (I spun ALOT on the last run andI missed 3rd.)
My 60's were: 2.316, 2.270, and 2.525.
On my fastest runI crossed the line at 102 mph.

do you think maybe theres something wrong with your shifting? i cut 2.2 60's cuz i got crap tires and still get 13.5s no problem

that just seems like a really high ET to me, sorry i can't help much, i've got an auto

 

You should be trapping a couple MPH more than what you are. Keep practicing on your launch and tighten up your shifts.
