Default First time at track

I just boughta 91 RS Camaro. 305 with the TBI. Its all stock. I do have 4 Goodyear Eagle 1's on 4 American Racer Rims.I made 4 passes. I staged the same way each time as well as left the line in the same manor.

My first run was a 18.468 @ 75.49 in the quarter.
My second run was a 16.594 @ 82.15.
3rd was 18.326 @75.59.
4th was a 18.546 @ 74.87.

I am having a really hard time figuring out how the hell I got that one 16.5.

Ifanyone can firgure it out let me know please.

Hmmm this is a good question. Something changed on that pass.

are you letting the transmission take care of the shifting, or are you shifting manually? Did you have a quicker reaction time? did you spin your tires the other runs?

You should probably focus more on why the hell you got those 18's.
You're not supposed to nap at the light you know! And I don't see you losing two seconds from the tire breaking free (if it even did). Is yours an auto or manual trans? The TBI 305 isn't a sit-n-spin tire burner car, unless you're brake torquing. I have one, so I know their capabilities (or lack of). If you have an auto, you can install a Corvette servo to give you snappier shifts, and change the governor to one that will alter the upshift point. You may have noticed that the 700R4 trans winds way too high between the 1-2 shifts, whether you let it shift on it's own, or if you shift manually. Check this out: Transmission Governor

Do you have the time slip? How does the 60 footand 1/8th mile compair to the other runs? Sleeping at the tree doesnt have a direct relationship with your ET so it isnt that...

you probably had a halfway decent launch and things went right that run. How you do in that first 60' set up how you should do for the rest of the track. Good launch will give you good times.

What doenst make sence is usually, lower ETs means lower trap speeds when your talking about the same car on 2 simaler passes. You had the same horsepower for all 4 passes so your trap speeds should all be about the same. Something happened the 2nd pass to give you more power or made you faster that you didnt have the other 3 runs.

its not magic, his car made one pass at the time it should of. if its a automatic, maybe it was taking off in second gear, sounds like a trans/runnablity issue.

I have had a little trouble with a plug wire arcing out and ruining itself. I'm gonna get all new plugs, wire, cap and rotor. I have an automatic and I was shifting myself. And the tires did not break free. Thanks for the tips and hopefully you'll have some more.
